I am an unexpected expense...

Man, it's hot...I was so tired at the game today, my legs just weren't there and I was just exhausted. We won, so it's okay...it seems more worth it that I'm tired, he he he.

Anyway, so after work, I got in my car and saw a big huge crack on my windshield. Dangit!!!! The heat must've made it expand because I swear I didn't see ANYTHING before. I got out of the car and saw a small chip on the bottom of the windshield, underneath the wiper blades...so I would've never found it early enough because I never saw it while I was driving. And now I have this big fingertip-to-elbow size crack that I stare at while I'm driving. I wonder if it's like totally dangerous to keep driving around w/ that sucker like that. Great...there goes 200-300 I didn't plan spending. Freakin crap. Thing is, I have my City of San Gabriel parking permit on that sucker...and I think you can't move it...so I'ma have to try to get another one. Argh...too much work man...too much work.

Money definitely isn't the most important thing in the world...by all means, but it sure can cause it's fair share of problems...

I am a sitting duck...

Man, i'm bored...

I am a chicken in an oven...

What ever happened to predicability?
The news man, the paperboy, even TV...

For some reason, that song's been in my head lately...i miss the good old days when I was kid and didn't have anything to worry about...

I heard about this study that women who drink more than 6 cups of coffee a day have a better chance of not developing heart disease or having a heart attack...something like that. They chaulk it up to the amount of anti-oxidants in coffee. What kind of frickin research is that? Studying people who drink MORE than 6 cups of coffee a day? Won't they develop other problems from taking in so much caffeine? Some of these research studies are so damn ridiculous man...no offense to any researchers that might be reading this, especcially if you're the researcher that did this study, but I just think we can better spend our money researching other things...

It's friggin hot...and it makes me not want to work...

I am the fence being sat on...

Best in the world
So the US got knocked out of the World Cup...sad, but our team wasn't that great. They had a chance and they couldn't even take advantage of it. Funny how we don't have much pride in international competition...we don't even send our best teams into some of the world competitions...look at what happened in the World Baseball Classic, the Olympics, and even the World Basketball Championships...we got bounced. Not even OUR best athletes WANT to participate in these events. It's frickin sad. And yet, the NBA champs are the "WORLD" champs? Same with baseball...it's ridiculous. I'd like to see us actually win a world championship before we claim to be one.

reunions
I was chatting w/ someone from my class just today. We were talking about how we both couldn't go to our 10 year reunion and I was saying I wasn't really planning to go anyway. During our conversation, I said something like "I'm not even friends w/ anyone from our class anymore" and he responded with, "We're still friends, we've just lost touch." Then it hit me...My mindset about my 10-year highschool reunion has been all wrong all along. I didn't want to go because I hadn't really kept in touch with anyone from my high school since I left for college. I didn't think there was any point in it since I was not vested in any relationships circa 1992-1996. But the whole point of a reunion is to see people you haven't seen in forever. To give me the opportunity to get BACK in touch with everyone. For example: Family reunions...you meet some people for the FIRST time! Kids and grandkids, spouses, etc. Man, I was all wrong. I'm totally curious to see which paths everyone has walked throughout the last decade. What successes we have accomplished, and to mourn the loss of the early passing of some of our old friends. Now, I can't go to the reunion still, because beeb and I are going out of town...but had I not had other plans, I would've gone. Hopefully, I'll be there for the 15 and 20...because I'll definitely have a reason to go.

I am a fond childhood memory...

Here's a pretty entertaining e-mail I got from my sister yesterday...

Those Born 1930-1979!

TO ALL THE KIDS
WHO SURVIVED the
1930's 40's, 50's, 60's and 70's !!

First, we survived being born to mothers who smoked and/or drank while they were pregnant. They took aspirin, ate blue cheese dressing, tuna from a can, and didn't get tested for diabetes.

Then after that trauma, we were put to sleep on our tummies in baby cribs covered with bright colored lead-based paints.

We had no childproof lids on medicine bottles, doors or cabinets and when we
rode our bikes, we had no helmets, not to mention, the risks we took hitchhiking.
As infants & children, we would ride in cars with no car seats, booster seats, seat belts or air bags.

Riding in the back of a pick up on a warm day was always a special treat.

We drank water from the garden hose and NOT from a bottle.

We shared one soft drink with four friends, from one bottle and NO ONE actually died from this.

We ate cupcakes, white bread and real butter and drank koolade made with sugar, but we weren't overweight because.

WE WERE ALWAYS OUTSIDE PLAYING!

We would leave home in the morning and play all day, as long as we were back when the streetlights came on.

No one was able to reach us all day. And we were O.K.

We would spend hours building our go-carts out of scraps and then ride down
the hill, only to find out we forgot the brakes. After running into the bushes a few times, we learned to solve the problem.

We did not have Playstations, Nintendo's, X-boxes, no video games at all, no 150 channels on cable, no video movies or DVD's, no surround-sound or CD's, no cell phones, no personal computers, no Internet or chat rooms..........
WE HAD FRIENDS and we went outside and found them!

We fell out of trees, got cut, broke bones and teeth and there were no
lawsuits from these accidents.

We ate worms and mud pies made from dirt, and the worms did not live in us forever.

We were given BB guns for our 10th birthdays, made up games with sticks and tennis balls and, although we were told it would happen, we did not put out very many eyes.

We rode bikes or walked to a friend's house and knocked on the door or rang the bell, or just walked in and talked to them!

Little League had tryouts and not everyone made the team. Those who didn't had to learn to deal with disappointment. Imagine that!!

The idea of a parent bailing us out if we broke the law was unheard of.

They actually sided with the law!

These generations have produced some of the best risk-takers, problem solvers and inventors ever!

The past 50 years have been an explosion of innovation and new ideas.

We had freedom, failure, success and responsibility, and we learned HOW TO
DEAL WITH IT ALL!

If YOU are one of them...CONGRATULATIONS!

You might want to share this with others who have had the luck to grow up as
kids, before the lawyers and the government regulated so much of our lives
for our own good...

Kind of makes you want to run through the house with scissors, doesn't it?!

I am a missing link...

My gosh, is it almost July already? Even though it doesn't seem like it these days, time is still flying by. And the mudrun was just last week...seems like it was almost a month ago now. So weird. I've fallen victim to some type of time-daze-virues. Hawaii is just around the corner...

I've had a lot of church songs in my head lately, I don't know if it's because I'm thinking of songs that we can possibly use during our ceremony, or because I'm thinking about Dayz stuff, or what...but I have them in my head all day long. Last night, it was Blest are they and One bread, One body, and earlier I had some other song in my head, but I don't remember what it was anymore. I love church songs...to me, they say a lot. I realized I am very moved by music, like church songs, and musicals. There's just a lot more emotion poured into those types of songs than others, in my opinion. It's crazy how a song can really effect you emotionally...I miss singing in a choir. I mean, the only choir I sang in was the one at Interfaith, but I was very happy doing that. Lately, I think I've noticed something missing in my life...and I think it's the church involvement aspect. It's hard, not being a part of a parish and always having things to do...but you MAKE time, right? Maybe I'll see about joining the choir or something at St. Barnabus, over by the house....

I'm all over the place today...A post a friend of mine wrote got me thinking...it was about passive-agressive people. To quote, but not really(cuz I'm too lazy to look up the post again and quote exactly), passive-agressive people do just enough to constantly jab at you and poke just enough that it can get to you, yet they can't be called out for it...and if they are, they simply mask it by saying they weren't serious. It's definitely an insecurity thing, and it really sucks that people have to even be this way because they don't have the balls to be open and honest with other people or themselves for that matter. Seriously, if you have something to say, have some courage to say it w/o being all cryptic about it. I wonder if there are any passive-aggressive people in and around my life. If so, please...just be straight up and say what's on your mind...

I actually got to chill a little bit this weekend, particularly on Saturday. I only had Noreen and Mike's baby shower to go to, and it was really cool, seeing people I hadn't seen in a while and getting a chance to catch up w/ them, but other than that...I got to chill. I cleaned my room and organized a bit. Oh yeah, I even got to play ball w/ the roomie in the morning that day too. Friday was Jennifer's grad party, which was mucho fun, her family dances A LOT! My gluteous maximus was hurtin with all the dancing. Sunday, went to church w/ beeb and checked out St Augustine and St Tims before stopping by the house to wish pop a happy father's day. We've decided to go w/ St Tims, just to alleviate us any worries of not securing a date...becuase St Aug won't let you know til 6 mos prior...which left me a bit uneasy. Anyway, after that, we checked out a few possible reception spots... and then, saw Nachoooooooooooooooooooooo! Great movie...I liked it a lot :)

This is what hapens when I don't write more often...

I am a connection I never knew was there...

Dude...I think I forgot to flush the toilet when I took my numero deux downstairs. I have an excuse though...the toilet I usually use to do my business is an auto-flush toilet...and today I had to go downstairs, becuase my throne was occupied. Damn man, I hope no one knows it was me...that would be REALLY embarrassing...

Sacrifices come in all sizes, big, small, huge, what have you. From the little sacrifices we make each day, such as mom or dad's sacrifice of their own TV time to let the kids watch cartoons, to the ultimate sacrifice made by Jesus Christ for us, each one has its own significance. And sometimes, sacrifices need to be recognized, lest they disappear into the abyss. And one might seem indifferent, or seem not to care at all when not recognizing said sacrifices. As much as it is important to make sacrifices however, it is equally important to fight for certain things that matter to you. Sometimes, you just cannot sacrifice certain things so readily. And when all else fails, compromise through communication.

On a side note...
While looking up the phone number for St Augustine, my old elementary school, I stumbled upon a memorial page for the old Pastor, Reverend Ian E. Holland. Back then, I just knew him as Father Holland, and later, when I got into high school, Monseignor Holland. He was always one of the nicest priests. Serving mass, seeing him at school, and just talking to him on random occasions, he was always positive. He passed away in 2002, and I didn't even go. I guess I felt a little detached at that point. I remember hearing about it, but I wasn't affected that much. I regret not having talked to him more after I left school, but that's just how things went. I read up on his biography on that memorial site and found out he actually graduated from Loyola! We were fellow alumni and never even knew it. Kinda crazy how everyone's connected somehow in more than one way...weird how some things can hit you so much later in life... Rest in Peace Father Holland.

Mudrun rocked! Here's the pics...
break for another picture
The only thing that sucked was that Jovan and me both had the runs during the run :(

I am a crossed path...

What' sup w/ blogger lately man? I keep having problems with it...argh. I keep getting this "Document contains no data" popup. Anyway...

It's been quite the busy day today, especially for a Friday. It's 5 already and I should be going home, but I didn't get to blog, and I feel like I HAVE to blog about my day before I left...

So far, today has been a great day. I got an e-mail from the guy that runs the basketball league on Tuesdays. Someone found my PHONE!!!! I won't have to pay the $25 bucks for a new simcard, and I won't have to shell out any cash for a new phone for a little while longer. Dana was gonna let me use hers, but I don't need that anymore, cuz I'll be getting my phone back on tuesday! Wooohooo!!!!

And then, earlier I called, actually, e-mailed one of the venues that beeb and I were pondering about, Skirball Center, just to get some date availabilities and some pricing information regarding wedding receptions. I get a call back from them and the following conversation ensues:

me - Alpine Electronics, Jay speaking (I use this phone for work too cuz I don't like carrying two phones around, plus I can sometimes expense my cell bills)
Skirball - Hi, this is Darrell from the Skirball Center, is this Jay?
meYes it is
SkirballJay Bermudez from Loyola?
me(thinking WTF??!?) Ummm, yes, who is this?
Skirball DUDE, It's DARRELL!!!!
me oh HEY! What's UP!?!?!
Skirball OMG, I can't believe it's you...Congratulations!!!!
and then we proceed to talk a little about wedding stuff...

Dude, Darrell was one of my closest friends in high school!!! It's sad that I've almost completely lost touch w/ any of my highschool friends, but hey, that's life. There were no ill-feelings that we had lost touch, sometimes, paths are separated only to come across each other later in the future...and what a small world is it that he's the even coordinator for one of the venues we're thinking about having our reception at?!?!? We're going to see him in a few weeks. Crazy!!!! Even if the venue doesn't work out for us, I think it's pretty dope that I was able to get in contact with him. We're trying to plan to hang out when we can hang out and just catch up. He's already married and has 2 daughters...man, we're gettin old...

Anyway, so that's been by awesome day thus far. Still got the Fondue Partay to go to! Woohooo!! I'm so happy today.

PLUS, we won our game last night, we have sole possession of first place in my Thursday league w/ a record of 7-2.

Things are definitely on the up right now...I am so thankful for my blessings :) :) =p

MUDRUN on SUNDAY!!! KRIKEY!!!!!

I am a stain on my shirt...

Not having my phone sucks ass...I don't freakin remember a lot of people's numbers man...damnit. I hate being leashed by that sucker...but I am. Dana's gonna let me borrow her old phone(thanx btw, he he he) but I'm still gonna have to get all my contact numbers again...argh

Another work story...
So one of my of my coworkers told me last week. Hey I'm having a birthday party on Friday at so and so club, I don't remember which one it was. So on Monday, I see the e-mail that he sent out to everyone and respond, saying, Happy Belated birthday, sorry I couldn't make it out. I hope all of you guys had fun. After about a minute, I get 3 e-mails back saying, "Hey dude, the party is NEXT friday!" ...DANGIT!

Another reason the English language is so screwed up. The word curious. Curious is curious, but as a noun it's curiosity which looks very strange, but then if spelled consistently, curiousity still looks strange. Is it because I'm already not used to seeing it that way? English is effed up yo....I'm totally confused...and yes, this is what I think about during the workday. Productive, aint it?

I am an insult to injury....

V551
Have you seen me? If so, please return me to my rightful owner, who is having a hard time w/o me. I was last seen at the Hamilton High School small basketball gym at around 7:30PM...

Plus, we lost the championship game today...

On 6/6/06 of all days...

FREAKIN AY!!!!

I am a small sigh of relief...

Check this out. I took these while I was in the shower last night...and NO, no x-rated pics, don't worry...he he he. But look! This one is like totally facing the showerhead! This camera is freakin awesome!
shower_1

You can't really see me here...
me_in_shower2
but how cool is that?!?!?!?

It's not an excuse!!!
Anyway, so I didn't go to work yesterday, and I should probably say why, because it's an interesting story and my coworkers though it was a pretty creative excuse. A little background... I already didn't get much sleep over the weekend. Friday, beeb, Jos and I went to my cousin's b-day bash at the White Lotus. Originally it was supposed to be Garden of Eden, but some sort of mix-up got us to White Lotus instead. We stayed there til about 1:30 and then went to Yoshinoya's where we met up w/ Averell and Ai and were there til about 2:30. We got home at like 3:30 and slept at four. The next day, woke up early to work out and then hung around the house and went to SD for Caren's grad shindig in Coronado...another long drive, another late night. Got home at around 1 or 2, but I was up til 3:30AM doing some laundry...I had to have stuff ready and dried for saturday. So that brings us to Sunday. After a day of goin to see Father Pat, tryin to check out St. Timothy's and hanging out w/ beeb's old coworkers, having a "bbq" and going to watch X-men 3, which was okay, at best. Anyway, so I finally get home, talk to my sister for a while, get ready for bed and then talk to beeb before going to sleep. So things are starting to get quiet and that's when I hear them...the high frequency sound of insect legs rubbing together...the animal kingdom's natural violinists IN my room. Yes, there were a few Jimminy Crickets IN MY ROOM! So while talking to beeb, I couldn't not stand it and had to find them. After about what I think was an hour, I find them and kill 2 crickets. It was hard as hell sneaking around my room trying to be quiet so I could first, locate the sound and then to sneak up on them and smash them. Beeb went to bed and I decided to finally lay down. After about a minute of my eyes being closed...I hear ANOTHER one. I try to sleep it off, pretend that I'm camping or something, but I just can't get it out of my head. I'm NOT camping...I'm in my room! So after about an hour of struggling and fighting, trying to fall asleep amidst this now annoying as hell sound, I get up and start to look for the damned thing... Apparently, this cricket learned from the deaths of his mates, because when ever I would move around my room, he would stop. He would wait like 5 minutes before starting to make his sounds again...so it took me a long ass time to find him. He was underneath my dresser and I had to first chase him out of it and get him into the open and then I finally got the upperhand and got him. I finally got to go to bed at 4AM. So I could NOT get up on Monday morning, and called work at about 8 to tell them what happened... and they laughed and laughed and told everyone at work...grrreeeaat... so there ya have it. That's why I didn't go to work yesterday. I slept in until 11:30...it was quite nice :)

I am a one-sided conversation...

While talking about our trip to hawaii next month...

me: Damn, I didn't take into acct saving money for the hawaii trip
beeb: I did, I'm using my whole paycheck, and I'm not getting my DS lite
me: Damn, that means I'm not getting my PS3
beeb: Yeah...(long pause) What?
me: I'm not gonna get my PS3
beeb: Oh yeah....(another long pause) Wait, what did you say?
me: ....

WHY oh WHY did I ask?

I am the first post after...

Instead of training hard for the mudrun, I have been slacking and slacking and slacking. Went to the gym for the first time in like two weeks, and I haven't run more than 4 miles yet... Instead, I bought a camera so that I can document our run next week! Check out my new toy!
OptioW10
Waterproof camera!!! I'm so gonna use this in hawaii and during the mudrun. It's crazy, it doesn't even have a case! It just has rubber seals inside that lock out water and dirt, can you believe it? I almost still can't. When I went to Ritz(good advice btw, Jevon, he he he), I kept asking the dude, are you sure there isn't a case for this? And he proceeded to tell me that I could just dunk the entire camera in the water, as is, just make sure that the battery door is locked. The shutter speed isn't all that great but I think it's abilities outshine that drawback. Besides, beeb can take the really nice pics w/ her cam anyway...this is just for the nitty gritty ones.

I ordered it fedex this past wednesday and after my meeting on Friday at 10, it was on my desk!!! How's THAT for service. Thanks butterfly!!!

Anyway, that's about it. Hopefully I can get some good training in the last week before the race! KRIKEY!!!!
